A bit more about us .....

Tyn-yr-Erw (pronounced tin - err - eroo) means "house in the acre" in Welsh, although we are actually set in five acres of gardens and land used for small holding.

We provide an ideal base for groups arranging their own activities such as lake and river sports, walking, adventure sports, geography and biology field studies, Duke of Edinburgh Award activities, training courses or simply visiting local tourist attractions. Please visit the Local Area section for details of where to book activities and for other information about the region.

Helen and Peter have been running the centre for over 20 years and people staying over the years have included canoeing clubs, local authorities, colleges and universities, families, Woodcraft Folk, Royal Navy, Scouts, Cubs, Guides and Brownies, Girls and Boys Brigades, Barnardo's, Quakers, Folk dancers and choirs, BTCV, Day Care Centres, stag weekends, work colleagues and ramblers.

All have enjoyed the clean air, tranquil location, fresh food and exciting activities on offer.

On the farm we keep goats, sheep, ducks, guinea pigs and a donkey. There are stunning views from the house and the surrounding gardens which include an orchard, wildlife reserve and pond, camomile lawn and herb gardens, an ornamental Japanese garden and living willow sculptures. You can relax and enjoy this beautiful environment after a hard days activities
